Fettes Active is an exciting joint initiative by Fettes Enterprises and Fettes College that offers five-day sports development and multi-activity camps for young people throughout the summer holidays. Our multi-activity camp, running from 26th July to 30th July, promises to offer its participants a mixture of sports, activities and whole-camp events to ensure everyone is engaged, happy and active at all times.
new camp for local children
Drawing on our many years of experience in running residential camps for foreign students, Fettes Enterprises and Fettes Active are pleased to offer our first summer camp experience for local children in 2021.
Time to get together
After a year of home learning, social distancing and too many hours spent online, young people need to get active and re-learn face-to-face social skills. By offering a wide variety of activities, which the children can choose each day, plus a whole-camp event each afternoon, we aim to provide a safe, fun and nurturing environment for young people to enjoy themselves, make friends and get offline.
A unique programme
Our programme is designed to give every child an opportunity to participate in a variety of sport and activity sessions as well as whole-camp events. In this way, children will have an opportunity to choose the sports and activities they participate in throughout most of the day but also take part in one team event each afternoon. Sports such as football, swimming and touch rugby will be offered alongside activities like tie dye t-shirts, bottle rockets and a variety of cookery classes led by Fettes College’s Head Chef. Every afternoon we will also offer a fun, whole-camp event like Capture the Flag, Fettes Active Olympics and our own take on a Highland Games.
An Amazing Location
The programme will be held in the stunning grounds of Fettes College with some activities, including swimming, held at Westwoods Health Club. We will also make use of the campus’ extensive sporting facilities as well as its beautiful art room in the Spens Building, the college’s flagship education centre.
The Fettes Active Multi-Activity Camp is a week-long non-residential programme for 8- to 13-year-olds. The camp will run from 9am to 5pm with drop-offs from 8:30am and pick-up at 5:00pm from Monday 26th July to Friday 30th July. After registration at 9am, the morning will consist of two 1.5-hour sessions, which the children sign up for at registration. We will offer a variety of sports and activities in each session so every child can participate in something that appeals to their interests, mood and energy level. After a lunch break (please provide a packed lunch for your child), the children will participate in one afternoon session followed by a whole-camp activity to finish off the day. On Friday afternoon, the children will participate in a team-based Fettes Active Olympics followed by an opportunity for groups of children to demonstrate what they have learnt throughout the week, and prize giving.
