Fettes Active is an exciting joint initiative by Fettes Enterprises and Fettes College that offers five-day sports development and multi-activity camps for young people throughout the summer holidays. Our lacrosse development camp, running from 19th July to 23rd July, will immerse girls of all abilities in this fast-paced, exciting game.
at Its Best
Following on from the successful inaugural Rugby Development Camp in 2019, Fettes Active is delighted to offer a lacrosse development camp in 2021 for girls aged 11 to 16, led by Ella Wood, Head of Lacrosse at Fettes College.
Determination, positivity & communication
Ella and her team will seek to provide all participants, from beginners to experienced players, with the opportunity to discover, play and enjoy the game of lacrosse while developing their individual and team skills. Alongside developing their skills, players will enjoy being challenged, developing their problem-solving skills and will learn the importance of determination, positivity and communication.
Ella is a current member of the Scotland senior women's lacrosse squad and has previously represented Scotland at home internationals. Ella is a current 1st X player for Capital Lacrosse club in Edinburgh, having recently graduated from Edinburgh University, where she was a player, coach and umpire. She is an experienced L2 umpire and has coached a range of teams at the university. She also worked as a lacrosse coach at St George's School for Girls before starting at Fettes College, where she is now Head of Lacrosse. She is dedicated to coaching and developing young players and believes in creating challenges for players to overcome, improving their skills and game awareness. As a player, she believes that a strong work ethic is key to improving individual technical skills and supporting your team. This ethos carries through to her coaching, where hard work and positivity are key to improvement, alongside enjoyment and love of the game, thereby creating happy and confident players.
Learn and be challenged
Participants will improve and develop their stickwork, footwork and teamwork skills in attack, defence and in the midfield, creating versatile, confident and well-rounded players.
