Cricket Development
at Its Best
Building on the success of the summer 2022 camps, Fettes Active is delighted to offer its new Cricket Development Camp in summer 2023, from 17th to 21st July. The camp, led by Riyaad Henry, who is one of the cricket head coaches at Fettes College, is for both girls and boys aged 10-16.
respect, hard work, integrity, and teamwork
I believe in creating an environment where children are not only taught the skills and tactics in cricket but also the values associated with cricket. These values include respect, hard work, integrity, and teamwork. I strive to develop players to leave the camp having improved their skills, understanding and passion for the process of development and growth.
Head Coach
Riyaad Henry
Riyaad loves sport and is passionate about helping people improve, develop and have a thoroughly enjoyable experience in them. After spending the first four months of his life in Falkirk, Riyaad moved to Cape Town, South Africa, where his parents are from and where his cricket journey began. With cricket being in the family, it wasn’t long until he had a bat and ball in hand and cricket soon became his passion. Riyaad came back to Scotland in 2017, 25 years after he left, when we was signed as the overseas professional and head coach of Ferguslie Cricket Club. Since then, he has played for Western Warriors senior regional cricket team and Scotland A men’s team. In addition to playing, Riyaad began coaching and is currently head coach of the Western Warriors men’s team as well as one of the head coaches for cricket at Fettes College, whose girl’s senior team won the first-ever Girl’s Scottish Cup last year. In 2022 he was also the head coach of the Scotland A team on their trip to Spain for the European Cricket Championships.
Core Skill Development
The camp is designed to be fun and challenging in an environment that is safe for players to make mistakes and learn from them. We will cover batting, bowling and fielding skills with team skill challenges as well as gameplay. Players will end the week feeling confident about their skills and with a set of drills provided by high-quality coaches that they can use in the future to continue to their development process.
